The New duo.set Retractable Display

Here’s a display worthy of your attention. It’s an updated duo.set from the French company duo.display that offers some great features at an affordable price.

First off, I’d like to mention that this display carries a lifetime manufacturers warrranty. Secondly, this unit is so rugged you probably won’t need it.

duo.set base

The base is very well made of strong aluminum, with thick, polished endcaps that promise to hold up to shipping very well. Likewise, the foot is also heavy machined aluminum. The base unit has a handsome black textured finish, and the unit overall has an exceptional “retro” design quality about it.

Also new is the ECI, easy change of image system. Simply pull out and secure with the pole, slide on
the new graphic, and you are ready to go.

The pole is a three section telescopic style, which allows adjustment of the image height from 38″ to 90″ tall.

The unit is available in 4 widths, and can accommodate a variety of graphics materials. An option is available for mounting a second graphic to the unit for an inexpensive double sided display. (Second graphic is non-retractable)

Retractables vs.Non-retractable displays

Retractables vs.Non-retractable displays. This is a topic that comes up frequently. To make an informed decision, you need to answer the following questions:

  1. Will you set the display up and take it down frequently?
  2. Do you need to create a seamless backwall by joining multiple displays?
  3. How easy do you need the setup and knockdown to be?
  4. Do you need a display that doesn’t go to the floor?

answers:

  1. If you need to set the display up and take it down frequently, and you don’t need to make a seamless backwall, you should buy the retractable display. It sets up more quickly, packs up almost instantly, and protects your graphic during transit and storage.
  2. If you want the look of a seamless backwall, you need to choose a banner stand display that offers magnetic profile bars on the top and bottom, as well as magnetic edges applied to the graphics. Retractable displays will have a 1/2″ gap minimum between units. The Expand MediaScreen XL retractable display series has a magnetic top profile similar to their bannerstands, and do not need magnetic edge graphics. If you don’t “mind the gap”, it’s a great way to go.
  3. Retractable displays are easier to set up than bannerstands. If you need something for a showroom or lobby that will remain in place once you set it up, a banner stand will work well.
  4. If you want a display that doesn’t hit the floor, a hanging banner such as the Duo Sprint or Expand Smart Stand or  will work for you. Both the top and bottom of the graphic heights are adjustable within the limits of the displays.

Duo Display

Duo Display has been a reliable banner stand manufacturer for over 10 years. Duo Display distributor Speedy Displays offers the full line of DuoDisplay products. We have sold their products since 1995 and they are a proven leader in quality bannerstand, POP and tradeshow display products.

Duo Display dealer info:

Duo does not sell direct. We are an authorized Duo Display dealer and SpeedyDisplays  fulfill wholesale orders for large format print resellers as well as selling direct to corporations and end users. We have excellent inhouse printing capabilities and can fulfill custom graphics orders quickly and efficiently.

WHY DUO DISPLAYS:

  • Duo Display offers Lifetime manufacturer warranty on nearly every product
  • Duo Display offers a wide range of trade show booths, displays, and accessories
  • Duo Display has a USA based 8,000 sq ft of office in Chicago. 5,000 sq ft of this space is the warehouse. They ship 96% of the orders the same day as received. As they have a small range, they keep everything in stock in large quantities. For example, they always have at least 1,000 duo.sprint in stock. It allows getting big orders when people are in a rush. This allows also repairing or replacing products the same day.
  • Duo solutions support graphic renewal and graphic turnover – use the same frame over and over for greater ROI.
  • Quality- they have the highest quality product at very competitive pricing. No one wants to have problems with broken parts at an event. DuoDisplay reliability is proven.

HOW DUO DISPLAY PRODUCTS COMPARE:

I consider Duo products to be of comparable DURABILITY to the best products on the market. Other manufacturers may have LIGHTER construction and PRETTIER materials, thus Duo Display products tend to sell for a bit less than some premium brands such as Expand Media.

Most low cost products on the market have name brands you’ve never heard of.

They may offer a lifetime warranty, but there is a difference:

  • There are no USA warehouses so replacements can take 6 weeks or longer.
  • There is no strong USA operation of any sort, so legal recourse is slim.

With a strong corporate presence, Duo Display is able to support dealers and their customers.

What happens if my Duo Display dealer went out of business?

We will help any Duo Display customer with warranty support. Typically we obtain an RMA for you, you ship it back, and they ship you a replacement. SpeedyDisplays is an authorized Distributor for Duo Display products.

I’d like a retractable banner stand for my church- which one?

Rather than give an answer, I showed the customer 2 solutions, then asked more questions about their needs and explained why one would probably be better than the other.

1. they had a special event coming up. They already had a 36″ X 82″ vinyl graphic printed. They wanted two units, and the banners would only be used one time.

2. They also conduct about one more event per month. Sometimes graphics are same, sometimes not.

The retractable banner stand is not a good solution for this non-profit church.

– they need to be able to change graphics on demand. Only certain retractable banner stands have that function, and they usually are not the lower cost units. If they really needed a retractable banner stand, I would recommend the  Expand MediaScreen 4.

– their existing banners were not going to fit into any new retractable banner stand

My recommendation:

DuoSprint Banner stand with clamp hangars. The graphic would be too small for the 40″ hangars and too big for the 32″ hangars, so for their one time use, they’d go with the smaller hangar and let it be a bit undersized. The clamp hangar set up let’s them change out graphics whenever they want. The unit is easy to set up and is a much lower price point. Given the amount of use, I didn’t think they’d have any real problems with damaged graphics.

graphic design for printing banner stands

1. one main point for the entire banner is best

2. all cmyk or all RGB- seems simple, but it’s a common error even among the most careful artists

3. company name- put the url or company name along the side or bottom, not as the attention getter ( Unless you are Apple and even then…)

4.  2-3 words and main image cover top half- you’ve got 3 seconds, make sure they work for you

5.  Avoid busy backgrounds with bullet text. Clean and simple work best, just like powerpoint slides

banner stands- which one is hottest

In our experience the duo display sprint is the most popular. It’s very flexible, easy to carry and easy to ship. aks duosprint 98duosprint s3
